Which one do I need?

Academic Credit

If you are an educator, then you most likely want the credit option.  To receive graduate academic credit, please refer to the course syllabus for requirements.  If you are looking for credits towards renewal of an Idaho Certificate/Credential or for career advancement in a school district, then please see the link below.

Continuing Education Units (CEU)

If you are a related service provider (e.g., SLP, OT/PT, counselor), then you most likely want CEUs.  To receive CEU, the course requirements are the same as for academic credit except no final assignment is required (please refer to course syllabus).  Continuing Education Units (CEU) are non-academic units for recognition of post-secondary learning experiences, such as conferences, seminars, or other short programs.  CEUs are not academic credit.  Participants may not receive CEUs and academic credit for the same learning activity.

Certificate of Completion

If you are a community-based professional (who works in Medicaid reimbursed fields, for example), then you most likely want a Certificate of Completion (CoC).   To receive a CoC, the course requirements are the same as for academic credit except no final assignment is required (please refer to course syllabus).  There is no fee for a CoC.  A CoC will not appear on any official transcript from the University of Idaho; instead it will be a certificate from the Center on Disabilities and Human Development stating the clock hours completed for the course.
