Welcome to Community Compass Interactive Interviews Lesson Materials—a hands-on lesson created to help you explore state and local agencies and understand how community partners support you as you move to adulthood. Over 2–3 class periods, you will research real-world organizations, participate in a virtual or in-person interview, and reflect on how these people and resources connect to your goals for after high school. This page includes all the things you need to complete the lesson:

This activity helps you learn about real organizations that support people after high school. It gives you chances to explore your options, make plans for the future, and speak up for what you need.

Pre-Interview Student Input Questionnaire
Use the Pre-Interview Student Input Questionnaire before the Interactive Interview to help you think about your interests, future goals, and what you want to learn about growing up. Your answers will help decide the right agency for your interview and guide the conversation.

Post-Interview Student Feedback
Use the Post-Interview Student Feedback to reflect on what you learned, how the agency might help you in the future, and whether you would use their services. This helps you connect what you learned to your goals after high school.

WebQuest Worksheet
The WebQuest Worksheet helps you explore a real agency’s website and find out what they do, who they help, and how to contact them. It also helps you come up with good questions to ask during your interview.

The Lesson Slide Deck takes students through the Interactive Interview process, helping them understand the role of community agencies and how these organizations support independent living and future planning. The presentation introduces key vocabulary, outlines steps for preparing and participating in an interview, and encourages students to reflect on how community partners can help them reach their goals.

Optional Pre-Interview Family Survey
The Optional Pre-Interview Family Survey invites families to share their awareness of local community agencies and their child’s needs for support in transitioning to adulthood. It helps you better understand family perspectives and identify opportunities for collaboration and resource sharing. You are encouraged to convert this to a digital tool.

WebQuest Worksheet
The WebQuest Worksheet helps students explore a community agency’s website to gather key information about its services, contact details, and how it supports youth. It guides students in developing thoughtful interview questions and prepares them to engage meaningfully with community partners during the Interactive Interview.

Teacher Guide
The Teacher Guide provides you with step-by-step instructions for facilitating the Community Compass Interactive Interviews activity. It includes planning tips, learning objectives, vocabulary support, and differentiation strategies to ensure all students can meaningfully participate and build connections to independent living resources.
